Young Colonials

(Grades 1st-3rd)

This engaging field trip includes a tour of The Powder Magazine and cannon yard. Students learn how the Powder Magazine fits into world patterns of migration which led to the settlement of South Carolina. Compare and contrast how the defense of a community in 1713 compares to the defense of a community today. Studentsbecome part of this 1713 community by enlisting in the colonial militia and participating in a cannon demonstration.
